I play alot of online poker and have done quite well so i thought i’d have a go at live poker. The main difference between the two pokers is tells so I read a few poker tell books to train myself to spot poker tells at the table. So this question is about tells in a poker hand – Hope you can help:
I entered a 45 player £20 tourney at my local casino and managed to get to 4 handed as chip leader when I get A Q under the gun so I raise to 5 times the big blind, everyone folds round to the big blind who is 2nd in chips calls (I’ve played with the BB alot and know that he protects his blinds to the death and would call my raise with any hand from AA – 7 2) so I can’t really put him on a hand at this point. The flop is Q 4 4 – he checks and I check to trap – turn is a 7 – he checks and I bet and he re raises me all in which was alot of chips and a very big re raise – if I called and won I was mega chip leader, if I call and loose and very short stacked. I try and get him talking to see how strong he was and he said two key things:
I said “do you have K Q or a 4″ and he seemed quite happy about this question and said ” well I guess you can’t beat those two hands then” so then I asked him how much it was to call and he says “about 90,000 but you’d still have about million chips if you called”
So my questions are:
1. Would you fold or call?
2. From what he says do you think he is weak or strong? and why?
Thanks for your help!
When he said you would have a million left he was just joking around beacuse i was chip leader – the call would of left me with about 20,000
He seems pretty tight on the flop, turn and river – he would never go all in i was sure of that
*never go all in on a bluff i was sure of that
