Around six years ago, I found an immense love for the game of poker and came to understand that there were people in this world that have replaced their day to day careers by playing poker. Since then, I have invested hundreds of dollars in books and hundreds of hours studying them, hundreds of hours studying other people’s play, and even more money/time trying to use/perfect my acquired skills. About half the time was spent studying and playing online poker while the other half was spent live in the casino. I have come to realize that I obviously CANNOT do it and that for me, it’s become a complete business failure. As for me, I’m going to pursue real estate in the future as a way of leaving the rat race of the daily hustle and bustle of having a normal job. Does anyone know anybody that has actually been able to make poker work for them? How successful are they with it, and is it mostly online or live play? How long did it take them to get to consistently winning?

Can casinos cheat at blackjack?
I have read books on blackjack, and learned the statistics. However, many times when I play it seems like the card distribution is rigged. I have played an entire shoe of blackjack where the dealer got a ten or ace as his first card 80% of the time. There are nights where the statistics of probability are absurdly violated.
By the way, this isn’t just my impression. I have actually kept count. Also, I had my friends keep track. It just seemed like a slaughter. Even worse were the few opportunities we appeared to have to recoup our losses. But almost every time those opportunities were reversed by the croupier. I had two eights that I split against a four. Should be close to a guaranteed win. I received another eight. Seems even better, right? So now I’m playing three hands and I drew well. The dealer “magically” got 21. But this is not an isolated instance. As I said, it was like a slaughter. No matter what we did, the dealer would somehow get a winning hand.
A few nights ago I played, with just one other player at the table. In two entire shoes I got one blackjack. Almost every hand I received was a 13, 14, 15, 16, so even when I got a face card it was paired with something bad. In cold contrast, the dealer regularly got two tens; fast and quick wins.
Another thing that seems suspicious is that as soon as they change the croupier for a certain person I have identified as “unbeatable”, everyone immediately starts to lose. It is like flicking on a light switch. How is this possible? The cards did not change, but certain croupiers seem to be like money-making machines for the casino.
However, I can’t contemplate how the casino could cheat. I see the card shoe directly in front of me. Still, I know from magic shows that what we think we see is not always the truth.
Some details: I am playing in Europe. They use five decks, and a regular, manual card shoe (not the machine).
Any suggestions for beating the house? Any little tricks you can suggest? Any books you recommend I read?

Any good gift ideas for Father’s Day for an older man who cannot walk?
My Father-in-Law has arthritis, as well as several other age related limitations. His only hobbies are word search books and casino gambling. He has difficulty with computers, and spends most of his time at the kitchen table or in bed. Suggestions?

how long did the stuntman’s freefall last?
According to the 1998 Guinness Book of World Records stuntman Dan Koko fell a distance of 328 feet into an airbag after jumping from the Vegas World Hotel and Casino. The distance d in feet traveled by a freefalling object in t seconds is given by the formula d = 16t 2. To the nearest tenth of a second, how long did the stuntman’s freefall last?

Who is to blame for Filipino moral slowly deteriorating?
1. Politicians/Government – there is no strict implementation of the law, police can be corrupted, some laws are very old and not applicable to present day, government do not make new policies to improve life of people, government allowed gambling to be legal(horseracing, cockfighting, lotto, casino, boxing)
2. Religion – Most priest have lousy sermons that people do not listen to them and literally sleeping during mass. Priests are now engaged in business, mistresses and even activism. Priest do not teach people how to read Bible and pray..
3. Teachers – There are few dedicated teachers nowadays..most of them teach because of money..Most teachers now always relied on book and forget there role of being second parent to students
4. Parents – Most parents, specially mothers are now working, unlike before that they just stayed in the house with the kids..Parents now allowed their children to be addicted to TV, computer rather than playing and interacting with other kids.

So what did you all think of ‘Casino Royale’?
I loved it…it was amazing..I have these two friends who hated it because it wasn’t like the book, but I say, Who cares if it wasn’t like the book, it was a good movie. They totally reinvented Bond, it gave the series a fresh start and that’s exactly what the movies need. I think the Bond movies are amazing, but they just kind of dragged on and people lost their intrest…what do you guys think?

Aren’t Bond’s supposed to swear?
I wish they would. In the book the last line of Casino Royale is, ‘The bitc* is dead’. I’d like to see Daniel Craig say it.
