Kotek asked:

I’m 17 and I was introduced to poker at the age of 15. During that summer I had lost $80 playing with my friends. I found it really fun and started to get into. I started watching poker on TV all the time and have started to get better. When I was 16 I decided that there wasn’t anything in this world that I would like to do more than play poker professionally. Today I go to school wearing poker shirts(please don’t laugh lol) and when people ask me why I wear them everyday I say, I love poker, I’m gonna go pro. Some say I’m dumb others believe in me but I know that I will be a pro no matter what anyone says. I plan to watch all the episodes of Poker After Dark (IMO best to learn from) and I will read poker books as well as practice online. I’m gonna play every bit of free time I get a chance and hopefully by 21 I will be ready to play at a casino.

Can someone give me tips on getting started at casinos. How do comp points work. If I play at $1/$2 for around 12 hours a day will I have enough comp points to pay for the hotel? If you have any advice please tell me. Thanks!

Looking for advice with an extremely complicated girl. Very long, lots of (important) detail?

Jojo asked:

This might sound like a movie plot(or a book).. but here goes. just to clarify, I’m 22, and in college, this isn’t a high school drama. I know only mature people will take the time to read something this long, which are the type of answers I am hoping to get anyways =)

A little over a month ago, my girlfriend(now ex) invited me to go out with her and some of her classmates doing an project. I spent most of my time hanging out with another girl that came with them, because my GF wasn’t interested at all in their assignment. I thought she was cool, but didn’t really think anything else of it.

The following Monday at school, I was talking with some old friends that I ran into, and the girl happened to walk by. She invited me to hang out with her and some others on Thursday.

The next day, Tuesday… I had a major falling out with my girlfriend, which had been a long time coming.

Thursday came around and we hung out, nothing exciting. But then, Friday came, and I ran into her again at a campus activity. We spent the whole time there together, and found out that we were both going to the same event afterwords.

She didn’t have a ride so I offered her one. Just as we start to drive there, my ex calls in tears over our breakup. After we got there, she could obviously tell what had happened. We found a quiet place and sat around and talked about relationship problems, and I found out she was going through a very similar situation with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend is studying abroad so they are in a long distance relationship.

We started talking and hanging out a lot after about a week, and I could tell that my feelings were developing as more than just friends. I knew that I had to tell her how I felt, before I got placed in that “friends” zone permanately. I knew it would be awkward, she still had a boyfriend… I wasn’t expecting a yes obviously… I just wanted her know how I felt.

She just said that it was a little awkward with how much we had talked about her situation, but nothing else changed. We still hung out and talked just the same as before. I noticed she did small things that might have been hinting she liked me, like resting her head on mine, etc… but never thought much of it.

Skip ahead to this Monday. It was a friend of her’s birthday… I had only met him 2-3 times. A small group of us went to a movie, then to eat… then we went our own ways. I had given her a ride again, so I was dropping her off.

She invited me in (it was like… 2am?) because she wanted to show me some pictures and such. After about an hour or so of looking at pictures and talking, she just laid down on my chest. We stayed that way for awhile… just talking… until all of a sudden she laughed a little, and asked if it was obvious… that she liked me too. We stayed up until about 8am with her just laying on my chest, with her arms wrapped around me.

Somewhere in there, the fact that she has a boyfriend came up. I can tell that she has been very cold to her boyfriend ever since I met her. When she reads his emails she mumbles stuff sarcastically like “Thats good for you…” etc… however, I can tell that she likes him regardless. I can’t really tell to what extent though. She got scared and started to wonder what the heck she was doing.

I work days and she works nights, so Tuesday and Wednesday we just talked on the phone for a few hours late at night… but then yesterday, she had a day off.

We spent the entire day together. We went to dinner, then to an arcade, then to a casino (not to gamble… just because it was nearby). We cuddled up with a quiet spot in the hotel lobby for awhile, watched the fountain show, then went back to her house again. We watched shows and then ended up the same way, with her laying on my chest.

Then, out of no where, she said “I’m sorry… for putting you in this situation…” it got a little awkward from there, because I couldn’t tell exactly what she was sorry for. My heart skipped a beat thinking the worst. She says she doesn’t want to face my ex(I don’t want to either…) but I tried to assure her thats not something she needs to worry about. I asked her what about her semi-boyfriend, and she said she just didn’t know what to do. She said something like “He hasn’t done anything wrong…”. I told her I didn’t want to rush or anything, to which she replied that she doesn’t either. She said that she probably shouldn’t let her feelings develop for me so much, as she squeezed my hand tighter and held onto me.

She is such a nice girl that I have the feeling she just doesn’t want to hurt him. She has dumped him once before, and he practically guilted her into getting back together with him.

She just called while I was writing this to tell me about something that happened just now, etc… saying she was going to work. I feel almost as if we are together… but not. She seemed a little disturbed on the phone t

What is the best sports book in Vegas(on or close to the Strip) for free drinks to moderate gamblers?

Drooooo asked:

I am going to Vegas during UFC 100 in a couple of weeks. Some of my friends are going to the fights, the rest of us are going to watch the action at a sports book. We will be making modest bets on the fights and some horse racing, but most of our bets will be in the $5 – $20 range. I have read that if you want to get free drinks in some of the bigger casinos, they expect you to bet $50 a pop. What is the best place to go to stay within our limits, but still get a complementary cocktail once in a while?

Why is it when a new job opening happens in Detroit, there are so many applicants?

Mr. Knowledgeable VI asked:

I was recently reading ClickonDetroit.com and there was a story on how so many people are applying for just 250 jobs at the Book Cadillac Hotel.

I also read on one of the Detroit newspapers (I belive the Detroit News), when MGM Casino was going to open its new location, they were going to hire around 1,000 employees and over 26,000 applicants applied

Finally, I read once on Yahoo! Answers that when a Wal-Mart was going to open in Metropolitan Detroit and hire 300 new employees, over 3,000 applicants applied.

My question is, why is it when there is a job opening in Detroit or the Metropolitian Detroit Area, there are so many applicants for just few jobs? For example, a new department store can open at Great Lakes Crossing and wants to hire 200 new employees and the department store can have over 2,000 people apply for positions at the department store.
Before I chose a Best Answer, I would like to say that I enjoyed reading all the answers given on why there are so many applicants when a new job opening happens in Detroit and/or the Metropolitan Area.

Do you think I have evidence that God is real? Or have I gone crazy?

Dimples asked:

Hello Yahoo people.

This is a true story without emblishment. I feel I have some inkling of proof that God is real. I have partially made up my mind, but then again, might as well try for truth by concensus.

This is what happened to me:

1) When I tried to kill myself during an unrequited love episode I recieved a sign for God, or maybe not. I was walking to buy some antifreeze and then I kept saying “Where is God?”. To hide the stuff from my Mom I hide it in a cardboard box. Then when I was about to drink it I notice a piece of paper at the bottom of said box. It was a mailout from a local charity asking for donations. It said “Because of your donations Anna didn’t kill herself”. I took this as a sign that God may be watching me.

Reason to believe: Because I would have died.
Reason not to believe: Random concidence.

2) I was reading the experience of some guy who said he died. He published a book about it in 1994. It predicted the financial crisis.

Reason to believe: Predicted event before it occoured.
Reason not to believe: Lucky guess

3) I was talking with the psychic a while back and she mentioned that my Mom had 4 kids that died before my sister and me. It happened to her because she was on medication and had difficulty having healthy kids.

Reason to believe: Got info from ???
Reason not to believe: Lucky guess

4) My Mom had a near death thing herself when she said she saw her Dad and then said she wanted to come back to get married

Reason to believe: She innocent in mindset and would be a unlikely liar.
Reason not to believe: It’s in her head.

5) Recently I went to the casino and prayed to God to help out (a little). I had about 100 and turned it into 2000+. However I tried some math experiments and got the same result, up by 2000 and then I lost about 1400 of it.

Reason to believe: Did God answer my prayer.
Reason not to believe: Probability estimates (which is actually dumb luck and gambler’s facilicy).

I could add more but those are the main ones. Have I crossed the line into madness or is this legit? Also I try to behave good, but recently fear has gripped me, and now I’m angry and upset all the time. People think I’ve crossed into full blown insanity.

It’s not only this stuff it’s also…

Unrequited love.
Girlfriend died in the past
People stole thousands of dollars off of me.
Been harassed and bullied in the past.
Been used without proper reconition.
Depressed and moody all the time.
Self diagonised with asperger’s syndrome, suicidal for over half my life.
People look at me funny on the street now, stress written on my face.

Also other stuff, but too embrassed and ashamed to mention.

So the answer I want is:

Am I crazy?
Is God real?
