Phil L asked:

With only 4 days to see as much of Las Vegas as possible can anyone offer any advice? We shall be staying at the Venetian which is hopefully centrally located and ideally won’t be losing too much time and money in the casinos. Our UK guide book shows enough to occupy weeks not days so what are the best sights, shows, trips etc?

  1. I recommend going on a trip to the Grand Canyon. It takes a whole day but really is worth time and money.

The Venetian is pretty much at the heart of The Strip. Very central.

  2. Hoover Damn is a good place to go and the Grand Canyon is only a couple of hours away. There are lots of shows to see just on the strip.

  3. The Venetian is right in the middle of the strip. You should definitely check out the Fountains at the Bellagio, the Sirens show at Treasure Island and just walk in and around the casinos. All the large hotels on the strip have great sights to see. Here is a suggested itinerary from frommers:

  4. The Venetian is beautiful – good choice! If you only see one show while you are there see ‘O’ by the Cirque du Solie at the Bellagio Hotel, if ‘O’ has finished – any of the Cirque du Solie shows are fantastic.

Treasure Island Hotel and Casino had a live pirate show outside the casino every 15 or 30 mins it’s very impressive (check times with Venetian check-in desk – they will confirm).

Visit the Grand Canyon – take a helicopter flight over the Canyon returning over the strip.

You can also take a tour to Area 51 if that’s your kind of thing.

Best Hotel Casino’s to check out are: Venetian, Bellagio, Luxor, and Mirage. Mirage have tigers and dolphins, MGM Grand has lions, Mandalay Bay Hotel has a huge aquarium.

There is a lot more to do in Vegas than you could fit in to 4 days so make sure you decide what you are going to do before you go and plan your days or you will run out of time.

  5. We go to Vegas 2-3 times a year every year for the past 10 years, and are infact moving there this summer. We just love it there.
If this is your first time then you want to do all the free “Strip” stuff for sure. Just take one evening and go along the strip. Here are some “freebies” for you to check out.
First, the fountain at the Bellagio, this thing is fantastic and “free”. It runs every evening and the times are posted in front along the street so you will know when it goes off.
Also, the Volcano in front of the Mirage. It’s usually about every 15 minutes or so and it’s “free”.
Also, check out the Sirens show at the Treasure Island. This runs several times a night and will be posted in front as well. This show is also free. And it’s very fun to watch.
Also, inside the Caesars Palace there are two shows that are free. They are at the end of each corridor in the shopping area. One is King Neptune and his children and the other is Greek Gods. They are statues that come to life. All free and very fun to watch.
Also, for a small fee you can ride the elevator to the top of the Stratosphere. This is a fantastic view day or night and there are rides at the top that you can purchase tickets for if you dare.
Also, inside of the Circus Circus are free circus shows every about half hour or so. These are free. And most of them are pretty amazing.
Also, for a small fee you don’t want to miss the Dolphin and White Tiger Habitat inside the Mirage. It’s interesting, educational, and it’s really neat to see all the endangered species that they have. As well as the dolphins.
Also, for a small fee, you don’t want to miss the Shark Reef inside the Mandalay Bay Hotel. This is absolutely amazing. It’s very cool when you get the end there are full sized sharks swimming around everywhere, All around you. It’s pretty neat to see.
Also, don’t miss Freemont Street in Downtown, it’s a blast, especially on a friday or Saturday night. There are lots of bands and live music, and it’s pretty cheap to get a really good meal in pretty much any of the casinos down there.
There is tons more, but that will get you started.
Also, if you want to go to an inexpensive show that’s fun, you get a great meal, and really enjoy yourself, go see the Tournament of Kings at the Excalibur. This dinner, I think is still around $60 USD or so per person, but you get a really good meal and it’s alot of fun.
Also, Blue Man Group is probably one of the most fun shows I have ever seen period, anywhere. It’s very audience involved and it’s an absolute riot. It is a little expensive about $125 USD or so a person, but well worth it.
Also, we love Le Reve at the Wynn Hotel, this show is absolutely amazing. It is also pricy at about $100 or so per person. But, also well worth it.
So if you are only going to be there for a couple of days, that should take care of it. Of course, just walking through the casinos and looking at them is fun.
Don’t forget, you are staying in one of the most beautiful of them. So make sure to check it all out. The Wax Museum is also right there in the Venetian, and it’s well worth the price as well.
Check it out!! And by all means, have fun. I am so happy for you. It’s the most fun city there is. And I am sure you will love it.

  7. Please go to the best website for planning a Vegas vacation, I have been using it for years now.

You can get maps, reviews on attractions, restaurants, shows, and just about anything else you can think of.

Also has real traveller’s reviews of everything Vegas (or anywhere else for that matter).
