  1. so people do not realise how long they have been playing

  2. The same reason that there’s no windows…so you can’t tell what time it is or how long you’ve been gambling.

  3. To lose sense of time and keep you playing, the same that happens with the desings of the carpets, you could not remember them, but they keep your sight at the tables level

  4. Obvious. So the gambler doesn’t see how late it is or how long he has been playing. They also pump oxygen through the AC system occasionally to keep everyone awake. Probably the reason why their drinks always taste watered down.

  7. I was at a casino once where they handed out complimenatry sandwiches and refreshments at 4 am to renew the gamblers’ energy. Unfortunately, I was with a group of friends and was not driving. I had surpassed my 30 dollar limit 5 minutes after we got in the door at 10 the previous night. I was very bored.

Some casinos also put mirrors up around the walls and ceilings. There’s a specific reason but I can’t recall what it is.

  8. If the previous answers are anything to go by, I think Yahoo Answers has the same effect. I can be on here for what seems like a very short time, but then I look at my watch – & find it’s 1-2am!!! I hope this is not just something that happens to me!!!

  9. Yes, because I asked when I was there and had left my watch in the bedroom. One of the croupiers said that the Casino owners did not want punters realizing how long they had been losing money at the tables. Some “punters” will sit and play all night and the tables will stay open whilst there is one player with chips in front of him willing to play. If they looked up and saw the time they may (if losing) decide to leave. Those on a winning streak don’t care about time. There are no winners in Las Vegas, whatever you win one day you give back the next. Its a great place though and so much to do and see (if you manage to hang on to your money). Well worth a visit.

  13. Absolutely… they don’t want you to leave their tables or slots. The longer you’re in the casino, the more free drinks they can serve you. As you become more intoxicated, you’ll lose track of time while you’re having fun and you’ll spend more money.

Ever played a friendly game of cards at your home with friends? It’s very easy to lose track of time because you’re having fun. It’s the same in casinos.

  14. So you don;t know how much time you have spent there and will continue to play

  15. Simple – the casinos don’t want you to watch the clock, they want you to keep playing. That’s also why the carpets are obnoxiously patterned – so you don’t look at the floor, you look at the games.
