joeblo asked:

So in my class we are suppose to pick random books to read and do projects over them. My first book was about a bassist so i made a video of me playing bass. I also read a book about casinos so my project was bringing in cards and we all played poker. I need an idea for a book report for reading the book twilight. PS I don’t want to do something stupid like make a power point on vampires. That’s not creative and I am known to make some awesome book reports.

For more information I am 15 year old male. Sophmore (10th grade) in High school.
If you could pick a better book, one that has more creative report ideas, what would it be? I can play guitar, bass, and I just need an idea that would live up to my last one (playing poker with the class or making a video of me playing guitar).

  1. Pick a different/better book. Twilight is ok as a novel, but it doesn’t have enough depth for a project.

Oh, and be prepared for 500 squealing Twilight Twinkies telling you to dress as Edward Cullen. That’s not a project.

If you’re determined to do the project on Twilight, then I’ll tell you what I’d do. I’d make a poster board or tri-fold board comparing Stephenie Meyer’s vampires to the traditional stereotype of a vampire. You could even pick a specific other novel to compare to (I suggest Anne Rice’s Interview with a Vampire.)

You could make that really cool (or I know I could) or you could go the more “traditional” route and make a book report. Dissect the plot and characters and discuss literary uses. Examine the lack of depth in the characters, and ask why the descriptions are so excessive, and the overuse of the word “chagrin”. Note the diversity of the vampires from the way one would normally think of vampires. You could point out the use of Mary Sue and Gary Stu characters, educate your classmates about what they are, and explain how not to use them. You could also bring a thesaurus to class and demonstrate what Meyer didn’t do while writing. You could teach about how just seeing someone can make you fall in love with that person (here, I would make references to Romeo and Juliet, the greatest lust story of all time, which bears a striking resemblance to Twilight.) You could even just summarize it and discuss the uses of colors.

Or just wear fangs and glittery paint to class. Don’t forget your volvo!

  3. You can compare and contrast Bella and Edward in a venn diagram or on a posterboard

  4. i absolutley love twilight.
    practically obbsesed.
you can do your project on like how true loves goes all the way no matter what the conflict.
    and maybe elaborate on that.
as far as creativity goes. i really have nothing. =/
    sorry

  5. I think you can compare twilight to books like romeo and juliet and otehr great lovers in history and make a powerpoint about how love was forbidden and not allowed
you could also do a project refering to the differences and similarities between humans and mythical creatures and research as to why people came up with mythical creatures
you can also show the different between the settin ofr forks washing and phoenix and say how that affects the books and stuff

You could do a lot of stuff with twilight, but a better book that i wud suggest would be The Da VInci code. I think this is better cause it has references to many paintings and puzzles of real life so you could sorta draw connections and make ur audience understand what its about easily by the sources you have. It is very intersting as well.

  6. Why not summarize it for the class in video form yourself? Find a “Bella” and have fun with it. Do the meadow scene with lots of glitter, and just make fun of it. I love Twilight, and I would laugh at that. Watch youtube video’s for inspiration.

    They are hilarious! ^

  7. Compare The Cullens to Laurent, James, and Victoria. The compare Angela to Jessica, Mike to Tyler, and Bella to Charlie. Then for an extra effect get people to play roles as those characters so they can act out the differences on camera!
